Magnetron sputtering device model Pfeiffer Vacuum Classic 25 installed

On November 25th 2015. magnetron sputtering device model Pfeiffer Vacuum Classic 25 was successfully installed in our MEMSplit lab. The device was, also, successfully tested. Transportation to the lab and testing of the device are shown in the photo gallery bellow. J. Bickel from Pfeiffer, the company that manufactured the device, guided the process of installation and testing. During the testing aluminum was deposited on a glass surface. During this process plasma was visible in the chamber as shown in the video bellow.

Visiting INETEC on November 18th 2015.

Ante Bilusic, project coordinator, and Ivan Golub, project administrator visited our partner firm INETEC on November 18th 2015. Marko Budimir, MEMSplit team member and INETEC employee, reported newest achievements in their probe (sensor) manufacture.

Presenting MEMSplit project at the Croatian Physical Society 9th scientific meeting

9th scientific meeting of Croatian physical society was held in Umag, October 5-7, 2015. At this meeting we have given a short poster presentation of our achievements so far and of future MEMSplit plans. During the meeting team members have exchanged knowledge and experiences, all in purpose of project dissemination and possible future collaboration.

Masters thesis done by Toni Vrdoljak

Toni Vrdoljak, physics student at Faculty of Science, University of Split, successfully defended his maters thesis “Theoretical model of ophtalmological high frequency ultrasound transducer with phased array elements”. This event took place on September 28th, 2015 at the Faculty of Science. Supervisors of this thesis were prof. Ante Bilušić and Marko Budimir, PhD. Work done on this thesis is a part of theoretical preparation of experimental work that will be done on MEMSplit project.

Researches’ night – MEMSplit LabCoat team

We have presented our project at Researches’ night held in Split September 25th, 2015. MEMSplit LabCoat team: Ante Bilušić, Zvone Domazet, Toni Vrdoljak i Lucija Krce.

August 28th meeting

On August 28th MEMSplit group meeting was held. The main topic of this meeting was theoretical research and modeling of ultrasound probes used in ophthalmology. This research includes a masters thesis done by student Toni Vrdoljak at Faculty of Science, University of Split. After the meeting Marko Budimir, PhD and prof. Ante Bilusic, PhD, visited the building at the University of Split campus where MEMSplit project laboratory should be established very soon.

Finished public procurements

In mid July 2015 two procedures of public procurement were finished. The first, financially bigger procurement, was posted in official advertisements in EU and Croatia. Procurement began mid March with estimated budget of 1,994.880 kn (without value-added tax). The following offers were accepted:

  • Austrian company EV Group Europe Asia/Pacific GmbH for mask-aligner model (EVG610), anti vibration table and spinner
  • Slovenian company SCAN d.o.o  for magnetron sputtering device model Pfeiffer Vacuum Classic 250
  • Slovenian company SCAN d.o.o for diamond saw, manufacturer Well Diamond Wire Saws, Inc.
  • German company First Sensor AG  injector device  manufacturer Parker, model Picospritzer III

The second procurement was posted in May 2015 in official advertisements in Croatia with an estimated budget of 238.880 kn (without value-added tax). The following offers were accepted:

  • Croatian company Lach-Ner for laboratory consumables
  • Croatian company Belmet 97 for monitoring and control device that includes air quality control, magnetic mixer and heating board, pHmeter, analytical scale, endoscope, vibrometer and shelf for drying of lab equipment
  • company Carl Zeiss d.o.o, Croatian representative of a German company Carl Zeiss AG for an optical microscope Axio Imager.A2m

Visiting INETEC

Two MEMSplit team members visited INETEC on June 8th to 12th 2015: Zvonimir Domazet, associate for MEMS, and Toni Vrdoljak, physics graduate student at the Faculty of Science, University of Split. Zvonimir worked with INETEC colleagues on subject of electronic circuits suitable for detection of high frequency signals while Toni used this visit to grasp a better understanding of theoretical calculations of ultrasound expansion and modeling of phased array network of ultrasound probes. These topics are closely related with Toni’s masters thesis.
