At the 850-hPa level, warm air was advancing from the northern Africa across the central Mediterranean towards the Adriatic Sea, with weak upper-level temperature gradients over the middle and the southern Adriatic. An upper level trough can be seen at the 500 hPa level &#8211; with associated strong mid-tropospheric winds (&gt; 30 m\/s) of southwesterly to westerly direction blowing at its front side, over the western Mediterranean and the Adriatic Sea.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>(12) Vela Luka, 6 July 1978 Figure 1.
