It coincided with a storm surge at Bakar.<\/p>\n<p><br><\/p>\n<p>Regarding the synoptic situation during the event, a closed low was present over the central Mediterranean and the Adriatic Sea. This low was associated with stronger surface winds (12-16 m\/s) at its eastern and western perimeter. Nonetheless, surface winds over most of the Adriatic Sea were relatively weak. At the 850 hPa height, warm air was advancing from Africa towards the southeast Europe, with a temperature front positioned over the Adriatic Sea. At the mid-troposphere height, relatively strong jet stream (wind speeds &gt; 30 m\/s), associated to a deep mid-troposphere trough, was positioned over the central Adriatic Sea.&nbsp;<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>(3) Vela Luka, 12 September 1937 Figure 1.
